The challenge is to assign just one title or position to Jimothy Rogers. If he had to choose one musical identifier, it’s that he works to be known as a Keyboard Instrument Specialist. On any occasion one finds Jimothy playing piano, organ, or electronic keyboards, representing a spectrum of music genres from Classical, Jazz, and Gospel, to the most contemporary “Pop” genres. At age fourteen, he was encouraged by his current teacher, Charles Arnette to enter the Peabody Preparatory of Music to develop his foundational training. This training solidified his love for classical music, leading him to receive a Bachelors degree from the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music in Piano Performance. Jimothy studied principally with concert pianist Awadagin Pratt. As a student at both Morehouse College and Morgan State University, Jimothy held the position of accompanist for both world renowned choirs, traveling extensively, performing in major U.S. cities. Internationally, he was featured as soloist at the Amalfi Coast Music Festival, Italy, for their annual collaborative recital. Jimothy continued his classical study with internationally acclaimed artist and pedagogue, the late Robert Jordan. Focusing on versatility, Jimothy has studied both orchestral and choral conducting, arranging, orchestration, and has performed in a variety of music genres. In 2009 he founded Tonal Concepts, LLC a music production, publishing, and performance company that has been extremely active since its inception. More information regarding Tonal Concepts can be found on our Facebook page. Currently Jimothy also serves as music director of Greater Mount Baker Baptist Church in Seattle, and is looking forward to much performance opportunity in that area and surrounding.
